July 28, 2018 NJAGC Picnic (@ Phil’s)

The 2018 NJAGC picnic was hosted at Phil’s. The attendees include Phil, Hank, Jerry, Khanh, Darek, Hock, Aram, Ross, Steve, Nick, Denise, Tina, Darrin, Evan, Andrew, Max, Jamie, Adam, Eric, and Ryan. As usual, there was plenty of good food and fellowship. Members enjoyed viewing Phil’s 240 gallon display tank as well as his two other smaller tanks. There were a lot of plants contributed to the plant swap at the end of the picnic.

Phil wishes he was calling up his tank to do a water change!! It turned out to be a spam caller wanting to install solar panels on his roof.

A nice front view of Phil’s tank. He has custom made his stand so he can work on it from his wheel chair.

Phil’s new addition – Hygrophila serpyllum is starting to propagate.

Phil is getting ready to test his light levels with both a home made Hoppy meter and an Apogee commercial PAR meter.

I think you need to have the fixture in the operating position Phil, before testing PAR.

Notice there are three PAR meters there in a fixture Phil made to compare them. The two Hoppy meters both gave similar readings.

The Apogee was giving a higher reading.

This is Phil’s 29 gallon tank.

Our typical plant swap table for the end of the meeting. Great plants for those in need.

Let’s see now, what do I want?

Thanks again to Phil and Julie for hosting our club picnic. Your home is a great and welcoming place and we always have a great time there. Can’t wait to see the proposed 325 gallon replacement tank.
